Getting the Message across!

In association with the Birmingham City Mission and the Midlands Gospel Partnership (Leicester), Sue Fearon and Helen Buckley will present a two session session programme giving a broad picture of Biblical children's ministry. They will provide us with design and programme ideas as well as examples of talks that resonate with the gospel and the whole of the Bible.

Our services for this Sunday. 10.30 am - we welcome James Coates from Matlock, Derbyshire who will lead us in an all age service.

Our evening service will be at the earlier time of 6.00 pm (prayer meeting at 5.45 pm). We will be supporting an outreach event in Oadby at Costa Coffee, The Parade, Oadby from 7.15 pm.

Sunday 19th December: Christmas Praise services at 10.30am and 5.00pm. Both services will be followed by refreshments.
Friday 24th December (Christmas Eve): Candlelit carol service at 8pm
Saturday 25th December (Christmas Day): Christmas morning service at 10.30am
Sunday 26th December (Boxing Day): Morning service at 10.30am. Evening service is a joint churches service at Littlehill Church, Wigston at 6.30pm - Preacher Richard Underwood.

The Positive Impact Picnic

27th July 2010 is our annual picnic. The morning service starts at 10.45 am at the church with a focus on Samaritans Purse (Operation Christmas Child). The focus will be how we can support those with HIV+ and help to make a positive impact through the work of Samaritans Purse. In the afternoon, bring your own lunch and we will be having a picnic at the Dixons Farm at Hungarton LE7 9JA. For more information call the church office.

'Country, blues and gospel shoes ....'

'That kind of sums up where I’m coming from and the kind of music I’m into,' Gus tells us.

'Heard Elvis and Bill Haley back in the ‘50’s – picked up a guitar and started to play... Along the way I studied Chemistry, worked in the Gas Industry, played Rock n Roll in clubs and pubs across the Northwest of England - picked up the ‘ways of the world’, a bad alcohol habit and met a man who said ‘there’s something missing in your life...’!

'Found peace and forgiveness and a satisfied mind when I became a follower of Jesus in the Summer of ’69 – married Wendy, had two lovely children, Jamie and Holly - helped to form the band ‘Canaan’ a Country Gospel outfit and made a couple of albums along the way - heard the call to ‘go into all the world with voice of singing….’ and finally left the day job behind in 1976 to spend the rest of my days preaching, singing and passing on Good News.'

Operation Christmas Child

Sunday 1st November in the morning (10.45am) is the launch of Operation Christmas Child at Oadby. Over 1 million shoeboxes packed with goodies get sent to children in Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe every year-giving one person in the UK the chance to directly impact the life of a disadvantaged child overseas. Come along and get involved and show God's love to a child in need this Christmas.

Anthony Adams of Radstock is speaking at Oadby Sunday 11th October at 10.45 am.

Radstock deploys a team of people to help churches develop their mission strategy and to facilitate participation in the wider network. Those individuals are organized as the Network Development Team and the Network Support Team

Anthony Adams serves as Radstock's UK Director and is particularly involved with initiatives in Kosovo, Ukraine and India. He is passionate about seeing churches equipped and planted all over world as outposts of the kingdom of God, and wants to help mobilise churches to play their part in that. In addition to his work with Radstock, Anthony leads 'Urban Life', a new church plant in a multi-cultural part of Derby, UK, while also 'tent-making' as a school teacher for part of his time. Married to Emma, with four young children, he is a music lover, guitarist, canoeist, Liverpool FC supporter, and car enthusiast ...all exercised with varying degrees of skill and passion. Some better, some worse!

7.30-8.45 pm - October 4th, 6th-11th at Parklands Leisure Centre. Oadby. Roger Carswell, Paul Hinton and Nick Howard will be addressing key questions of life.

...the emptiness of life...who messed up the world?...is forgiveness possible?...why is there suffering?

Each evening we will hear of how the Christian message really makes a difference. Paul Jones, once lead singer of Manfred Mann and now a radio and TV presenter with his wife Fiona Hindley, an accomplished actress will share their story.

Henry Olonga former Zimbabwean test cricketer... the first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe who in 2003 wore a black armband in protest against Zimbabwe's government - this led to a warrant for his arrest, early retirement from the game he loved and sending him into hiding.

John Mosey, whose daughter had been on the Pan Am flight 103 and was amongst the dead in the Lockerbie bombing, reacted in a shocking manner by stating they had forgiven the terrorists!

Harvest Celebrations - Let it flow!

Our focus for our harvest weekend will be on the work of Tearfund.

At the church - a simple meal so that others can simply live. We will have a Tearfund presentation and also items will be available for sale.
